Women's Program Your First Step to a New Beginning Starts Here

Women's Program

We recognize that understanding the distinct needs women have in recovery is essential for effective treatment. Our program for women was created with intentionality around the ways addiction and co-occurring mental health symptoms manifest specifically in women, highlighting the societal and biological factors that contribute to these challenges.

Research shows that women can experience substance use disorders at a rate similar to men due to factors such as trauma, mental health issues, and societal pressures that limit women’s needs being met. Biological differences, including hormonal fluctuations, can also impact women's responses to addiction and recovery.

Based on common misconceptions about women and addiction, our program focuses on the following key areas:

  • Recognizing Susceptibility to Addiction
Our program educates clients and families about the factors that contribute to addiction in women, including trauma and mental health issues, to foster awareness and understanding.
  • Understanding Motivations for Use
We explore the various reasons women may engage in substance use, including emotional, social, and recreational factors. This comprehensive approach helps women feel validated in their experiences and encourages open discussion about their motivations.
  • Addressing Pregnancy and Addiction
Our program acknowledges the challenges of addiction as it relates to pregnancy. Some believe that pregnancy will automatically motivate a woman to stop using substances; however, addiction can occur during pregnancy or can be triggered by difficulties getting or staying pregnant.
  • Tailoring Treatment Approaches
Understanding that women’s treatment needs can differ from men’s, our program offers tailored interventions that address specific emotional and social factors affecting women in recovery. We focus on creating strategies that resonate with their unique experiences.
  • Challenging Stereotypes
Our program works to dismantle the stigma surrounding women with addictions by promoting understanding of the complex factors involved. We emphasize that addiction does not equate to irresponsibility or weakness, but rather is a multifaceted issue requiring compassion and support.
  • Supporting Recovery Challenges
We acknowledge that recovery can be challenging for women and provide resources and strategies to navigate these difficulties. Our program emphasizes the importance of building resilience and accessing support networks to enhance the recovery journey.

By focusing on these areas, our program aims to provide a comprehensive and supportive environment tailored to the unique needs of women in recovery.
